Utilize your windows or the front of your store to communicate a story to the customer with dramatic merchandising presentations. Here are some tips to help you create displays that will grab the customers' attention and generate sales.

Exciting window displays are a must for bringing “drive-by” traffic in the store. It is the first impression that your customers get of your store and you should create the image you want to your store to have. The display itself should be exciting by telling a story. Pick a theme or a story that is appealing to your customers or feature a new product line.
o The display should feature merchandise that sets your store apart from your competition.
o Change the display at minimum once a month.
o Make sure you have directional lighting to highlight focal points.
o Use signage to create reasons to come in the store (ie: event signage, promotional signage).
o Remember to KEEP IT SIMPLE by focusing on a theme and sticking to it.
Stop Traffic with Curbside Merchandising
When you store does not have a window, explore the possibility of “curbside” merchandising either on a sidewalk or a porch. This type of merchandise works best if you sell furniture, garden items, florals (artificial or real), and other related items. If possible use merchandise with a color to create additional impact.
o Use signage here as well to create interest in your store. It is important to make sure that you have the main theme signage visible to drive by traffic.
